Paragon Software and Insight Integrated Systems partner to bring a solution to companies suffering from storage perfomance issue due to partition misalignment

Paragon Alignment Tool Optimizes Systems by Aligning Affected Drives after Transition from 512-Byte to 4K-Byte Sector Partitions

Paragon Software has partnered with Insight Integrated Systems (IIS), a division of Insight Investments LLC, the industry expert in technology solutions and financing options, to provide the Paragon Alignment Tool (PAT) to companies suffering from disk drive partition misalignment. Insight Integrated Systems will also offer Paragon’s popular Hard Disk Manager (HDM) 11 Server for disaster recovery and as a cost-effective tool for system migration and virtualization projects.

With the transition from the 512-byte to the 4k-byte sector storage standard, many drives are experiencing performance degradation between 20 and 40 percent due to partition misalignment. Misalignment can appear under a number of different scenarios. For companies utilizing virtual environments, performance problems are amplified.

“As a leading IT services companies in the U.S., we are in the trenches working side-by-side with our clients and as a result, we are at the forefront for offering only the best software solutions for our customers,” said Rob Flannery, SVP of National Sales “We decided to partner with Paragon because we found their service and products to be top-notch and at an attractive price for our clients.”

CES 2012 Flash: Incompatibility between digital multimedia devices is eliminated with Paragon’s UFSD Cross-Platform Technology

Paragon Software to Demo UFSD Cross-Platform Technology for Consumer Electronics Market Needs at Showstoppers @ CES 2012

Paragon Software showcases its Universal File System Driver (UFSD) – a cross-platform software tool providing full support for exFAT file systems in all types of consumer electronics devices, regardless of the platform on which they are running, at ShowStoppers @ CES 2012. Paragon’s UFSD technology solves incompatibility issues between NTFS, HFS+, and exFAT file systems and popular operating systems, including Android, Linux, ThreadX, and Windows CE. With Paragon’s UFSD support for all popular file systems built into modern digital devices, consumers can enjoy issue-free compatibility between their media centers, digital televisions, set-top boxes, or any digital device with USB, SD, or Micro SD sockets and those used to format storage media, such as portable HDDs, in order to freely playback recorded video and audio regardless of file system type.

Modern multimedia systems based on popular embedded operating systems provide the ability to play multimedia files. Common storage incompatibility issues arise when launching multimedia files from storage media formatted on Windows, Mac OS or from modern high-capacity SD XC cards on devices that do not support the media format, such as Linux multimedia stations that work only with FAT or Linux-native file systems. With Paragon’s cross-platform technology, barriers between multimedia devices and media file systems are eliminated, allowing users to enjoy multimedia devices that can write data to and read data from external media of any file system. Paragon’s UFSD technology makes it possible to process unsupported partitions to browse contents, read and modify files, copy and create new files and folders, and more, while maintaining high-performance read/write access and speedy file transfers.

For more information on this and other cross-platform solutions, please contact technology@paragon-software.com, or visit us at ShowStoppers @ CES 2012, Table B11.

Paragon Software to demo UFSD Cross-Platform technology and discuss the coming Paragon Hard Disk Manager 12 Suite at ShowStoppers at CES 2012

UFSD cross-platform technology

The bad news: Modern multimedia systems — including set-top boxes, portable media players (PMP), smart phones and tablet PCs — based on Android, Linux, ThreadX, Windows CE and other embedded operating systems, provide the ability to play multimedia files. Common incompatibility issues arise when launching multimedia files from storage media formatted on Windows, MacOS or from modern high-capacity SD XC cards.

The good news: With Paragon’s Universal File System Driver cross-platform technology, compatibility barriers are eliminated, allowing users to enjoy multimedia content (including space-consuming HD movies) stored on external media of ANY file system (exFAT, NTFS, HFS+, FAT32) on multimedia systems based on virtually any operating system: Android, Linux, ThreadX, Windows CE and others.

Smooth migration of 64-bit Windows Vista/7 to a modern GPT/UEFI platform is now open to you!

Users of motherboards with UEFI support are now able to use large-capacity drives as primary drives and change boot mode from BIOS to UEFI without reinstalling Windows.

Home and small-office users who move their 64-bit Windows Vista or Windows 7 software environments from the dated MBR/BIOS configuration to a modern GPT/UEFI platform find that there is no simple way to replace and adjust booting without reinstalling the operating system from scratch. While Windows Disk Management supports conversion to GPT for empty drives only, there is no way to convert the system drive to GPT without losing any data. Windows Management tools do not provide an option to adjust boot files for UEFI, making it impossible for users transferring established data or system components within a single computer directly from a BIOS boot mode to a UEFI-based mode.

Paragon Migrate to UEFI was especially designed to cover all issues caused by migration to new UEFI-based boot mode, helping users easily transfer their data and significantly simplifying all system migration operations. In four quick steps, users can migrate a physical system to any new hard drive or a modern large-capacity drive, and use this GPT-partitioned disk as a primary boot drive. An easy click-through wizard allows users to select the source MBR system drive for migration to a new (up to 3TB capacity) drive and copy the data while the software automatically adjusts the system. Paragon Migrate to UEFI works with all 512 sector type drives, both external and virtual.

Paragon Migrate to UEFI is available for immediate download, FREE of charge as part of the Early Adopter Program. Interested parties are invited to run pre-production software to help validate features of the new technology.
