Paragon Software reinforces its support for Mac users with the release of 3 products!

Paragon Software releases three solutions for Mac users working in a dual OS environment or planning to upgrade to OS X Lion – NTFS for Mac® OS X 9.5, Virtualization Manager for Mac and a beta version of CampTune X.

Recognizing users’ desire to combine dual OS environments on their Mac with NTFS and HFS+ volumes on a single drive, get full access to any NTFS volume, and transition smoothly to a virtual environment, Paragon Software has created three utilities addressing needs specific to today’s Mac users. Dual-boot systems running both OS X and Windows do not have built-in utilities for volume resizes, leading to available space shortage barriers on HFS and NTFS volumes. Attempting to retrieve data from devices using an unsupported file system is impossible without specialized drivers. Even a straightforward upgrade from an older Mac OS to the latest OS X Lion can introduce unforeseen incompatibility issues with the software.

NTFS for Mac® OS X 9.5 — the first NTFS driver to support the latest OS X Lion — adds NTFS file allocation system support to Mac OS X, allowing the operating system to access any NTFS-formatted drive.
Owners of Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X 9.0 may upgrade to version 9.5 for free.

CampTune X is a next-generation utility that changes volume sizes in dual-boot Mac OS X/Windows systems by adding more space to one volume at the expense of another.
Paragon CampTune X Beta is open to beta testers and can currently be downloaded for free.Become a beta tester and download this product>>

Virtualization Manager for Mac OS X is a solution for smooth migration of an Mac OS X environment to a virtual machine, and allows users to create and run a virtual clone of a physical machine that can be used anywhere.Virtualization Manager for Mac is a standalone application that runs the virtual clone of your OS X-driven environment on another machine without loading into a special environment, or saves it for use as a backup. Paragon Virtualization Manager for Mac can be downloaded for FREE!

Paragon Software’s NTFS for Android driver embedded into Acer ICONIA TAB A500 and ICONIA TAB A501 tablets

Enables Multimedia File Sharing between Tablets and Windows-formatted USB Hard Drives

Paragon’s Universal File System Driver (UFSD) technology was selected to be embedded into Acer’s Android™ Honeycomb-based ICONIA TAB A500 and ICONIA TAB A501 tablets. By adding NTFS support, users can easily transfer music, video, and other data file types between a Windows-formatted storage device and their tablets.

Paragon’s UFSD technology enables systems and devices to have full access to file systems which otherwise would not be supported. Acer is licensing Paragon’s UFSD-based NTFS for Android driver to enhance the capability of their tablets, since most hard drives are formatted for NTFS. Tablets without the Paragon driver require users to first reformat their hard drive to the older FAT file system before they can be used.

“We are very excited to have Acer as a strategic partner and for their innovative ICONIA TAB tablets to include Paragon’s unique USFD technology,” said Tom Fedro, president at Paragon Software Group. “This collaboration seamlessly extends the capabilities of an Android-based device, especially for multi-media applications, helping to ensure end users have a predictable and enjoyable experience with their tablet.”

Paragon Alignment Tool™ 3.0 for ESX® now available for remote partition alignment in the virtual environment

Want to get the most out of your ESX or Hyper-V infrastructure?

Virtual hard drives are using page sizes similar to those of found with newer Advanced Format Drives. Misalignment is very common for this type of drive, which results in redundant read/write operations, and critically affects overall performance and (indirectly) hardware lifespan. The same holds true for virtual hard drives — even a simple migration of a virtual machine from one VMware ESX Server to another could end up with a misaligned virtual drive. The situation aggravates when the host’s hard drive and virtual drives are both misaligned — the number of redundant read/write operations doubles.

Paragon Alignment Tool™ (PAT) 3.0 for ESX® is the next generation of the best-selling classical PAT that is aimed exclusively at optimizing virtual drives. It’s been designed primarily for IT personnel who administer Windows or Linux guest environments that are running on VMware ESX Server. However it can also be very useful for improving the disk subsystem performance of guest operating systems under control of Microsoft Hyper-V Server.

In LOVE with Paragon Software…

Dear All,

Have a look on the most wholehearted e-mail from “a very Satisfied Customer” to Paragon Software we was given recently. Read up to the end!

Not meaning to gush, but …..

A while back, I was having a problem with Windows XP, and the obvious solution was to re-install it. Sounds fine, but what happened is what I understand now has happened to a whole lot of other people. Windows didn’t re-install, it installed and duplicated itself as a second operating system on my second drive, and then I could not get into this new, schizophrenic Windows except in safe mode. Couldn’t even access the BIOS.

My son, whom I love dearly, is a techie for a subcontractor for IT company, and he is strictly a Mac and Linux person, himself … and after hearing my sad strory, he agreed that I would no doubt need to re-format and start over, but he was sending me a copy of Windows 7 – the 64 bit version – and once it arrived, he guided me through a solution, and I followed all his instructions and was informed by Windows that my CPU couldn’t handle 64 bit Windows – a statement the manufacturer’s specs dispute, by the way. And after cleaning up all that mess, re-re-formatted and tried to go back to Windows XP on a clean drive and install it until I could get the Windows 7 in 32 bit, and for some bizarre reason, Windows would not allow me a new partition for any more than 10GB, on a 500GB SCSI drive. I’d enter a larger figure and it would say “uh-uh” and send me back to the previous page until I got it right. So, I ended up with Windows in its own little partition .. and then several programs I re-installed never asked for a choice of drives and insisted on installing into the same drive as Windows, and I soon ran out of room. Okay, I started out in computers with a Commodore 64 … but it’s been along time since a 10 GB drive could cut it, and it sure don’t now!

NO PROBLEM, my son says, and ships me this nifty Linux program to straighten it all out, assuring me it’s “easy!” Just follow the instructions. So, I booted up with the program.. Which then ran steadily for two and a half days straight, telling me every sector in my drive was damaged and totally inaccessible until I finally said ENOUGH! Easy, this was not! I also didn’t believe it.

Got your demo today at the recommendation of several websites, starting with ehow.com, liked it, bought a 10 day license, immediately downloaded the full program, installed it, ran it, and not 10 minutes later, I had two nice drives again, and didn’t lose a single bit of data. and everything is working beautifully. Less than an hour from the time I downloaded the demo to having my computer running along just beautifully again…. after over a week of efforts by all sorts of other methods. If I hadn’t already had grey hair, this last week would have done it, but your Partition Manager just did all the work and I didn’t pull out one single hair in the process. Didn’t even cuss, scream or slam my keyboard!

I can’t thank you enough … and being a widow on Social Security and already spending more than I should on the computer, I very much appreciate the consideration of your 10 day license at the considerably reduced charge. That’s an excellent offer that I am sure is an ideal solution for a great many of us home computer owners. I hope that I will not need your program again, but if I do .. you’ll be hearing from me for a renewal. And I will recommend your program to anyone else I hear has any sort of partition problem.

Thank you, from a very satisfied customer!

Jeannie Vaughan

Paragon steps beyond the terrestrial, providing full and reliable backup and recovery in the Universe

Launched on Atlantis’ last space flight, Hard Disk Manager 11 Professional provides one-button simplicity for astronaut’s restore operations!

At 11:29 a.m. EDT on July 8, 2011, Paragon reached a milestone in the company’s brief history as it soared into the heavens on the final flight of America’s Space Shuttle Atlantis.

Selected by NASA’s Prime Bioastronautics contractor, Wyle, Paragon’s backup and disaster recovery software, Hard Disk Manager (HDM) 11 Professional now orbits the Earth on the International Space Station. HDM 11 serves as the primary backup and recovery software for the latest generation Ultrasound system also launched on Atlantis.

The International Space Station’s primary goal is to provide a platform for scientific research. Human subject research is managed by Wyle as part of the Bioastronautics Contract. Certification of the next generation ultrasound required being able to successfully restore the new ultrasound system to its launch configuration. Lockheed Martin, one of the subcontractors operating with Wyle, the prime contractor on the Bioastronautics Contract, needed a recovery solution that could meet its stringent specifications. As is often the case with space-related operations, a customized software solution was needed.

“At Paragon, we provide our clients with superior customer service regardless of where they are, now that extends to outer space,” said Tom Fedro, president of Paragon Software Group.

Paragon MSP Partner Program designed to expand business opportunities for value added resellers (VARs)

Month-to-Month Subscription Licensing Available for Backup and Disaster Recovery Solutions without Upfront Investment

Paragon Software introduced their Managed Service Provider (MSP) Partner Program — which provides a new avenue for value added resellers (VARs) to expand their business opportunities by offering Paragon’s Drive Backup products to their customers as a service. Participating VARs benefit by utilizing the program to generate a new high-margin, recurring revenue stream without any upfront capital investment for the MSP or their customers.

“Paragon offers MSPs a flexible, multi-tier pay-as-you-go MSP licensing option for our disk imaging software line, Drive Backup, that allows MSPs to license the software from Paragon on a month-to-month basis, and then sub-license it to their customers,” said Daniel Eickhoff, director of channel sales at Paragon Software Group. “The subscription-based model eliminates the startup capital investment to acquire the licenses and maintenance for both the MSP and their customers.”

Paragon Software detects and solves misalignment problems according to InformationWeek

According to InformationWeek‘s writer Robert Mullins, new disk drive systems coming out with 4-kilobyte storage sectors, replacing the 512-byte standard of old, offer a lot of great advantages, such as increased storage capacity. But the transition is creating a problem for storage system administrators called storage partition misalignment. The problem occurs when new storage based on the 4K standard is installed in IT systems as a replacement for the 512-byte standard. It’s as much a problem for virtual storage environments as non-virtual.

In the most recent article “Upgraded Storage Standard Causes Headaches” director of channel sales for Paragon explains how Paragon’s systems detect and solve the mentioned problem.
